Google Pay (formerly Android Pay) provides a unified experience for storing loyalty cards, tickets, and credit cards across the Android and Chrome ecosystem.

Google Wallet Rebranding (USA)

As of June 2024, Google has officially deprecated the “Google Pay” standalone app in the United States, transitioning all payment and card storage functionality to Google Wallet.

  • The Service: “Google Pay” remains the name of the payment service you use at checkout.
  • The App: “Google Wallet” is now the primary application where you manage your cards, passes, and IDs.
  • Availability: While the Google Pay app is gone in the US, the underlying “Google Pay” technology is still ubiquitous and accepted anywhere NFC (contactless) payments are supported.
