The Chase Travel Portal is a centralized booking engine powered by Expedia (or proprietary Chase infrastructure) that allows cardmembers to book flights, hotels, cruises, and activities using cash or Chase Ultimate Rewards points.
Redemption Rates by Card
| Card Tier | Portal Redemption Value |
|---|---|
| Chase Sapphire Reserve® | 1.5¢ per point |
| Chase Sapphire Preferred® | 1.25¢ per point |
| Ink Business Preferred® | 1.25¢ per point |
| Freedom & Ink Unlimited/Cash | 1.0¢ per point |
Crucial “Connective Logic”
- Direct Booking Requirement: For specific card benefits (like the $50 Annual Hotel Credit on the Sapphire Preferred), the booking must be made through the portal.
- No Hotel Loyalty Progress: When booking hotels through the portal, you generally will not earn hotel brand points (e.g., Marriott Bonvoy points) or receive elite status benefits, as it is treated as a third-party (OTA) booking.
- Airline Miles: Unlike hotels, booking flights through the portal usually earns airline miles and status segments, as the portal issues a standard revenue ticket.
- The “Transfer” Gap: While 1.25¢ is a guaranteed floor, transferring points to partners like World of Hyatt can often net 2.0¢ - 3.0¢, making the portal less efficient for high-value redemptions.
How to Access
Cardholders can access the portal via their Chase.com account or the Chase Mobile app under the Rewards section.
